About your Coach
Dr Mike Clayton is one of the most successful and in-demand project management trainers in the UK. He is author of 13 best-selling books, including four about project management. He is also a prolific blogger and contributor to ProjectManager.com and Project, the journal of the Association for Project Management.
Between 1990 and 2002, Mike was an successful project manager, leading large project teams and delivering complex projects.
In 2016, Mike launched OnlinePMCourses.
Mike's Coach Training and Experience
Mike trained as a coach with Sir John Whitmore (author of Coaching for Performance: The Principles and Practices of Coaching and Leadership US|UK). It was Sir John who introduced Inner game coaching into the UK and was among the first to adapt the approach to coaching managers, leaders, and executives.
Mike was part of a core team of highly trained Performance Coaches at Deloitte in London, where he was a Senior Manager, responsible for leading projects and programs for clients like General Motors, BAA, Vodafone and UK Government. he coached colleagues at all levels.
After leaving Deloitte, Mike has consistently coached project managers and senior leaders over the last 15 years, and also taught coaching to operational managers and leadership teams.
About founding OnlinePMCourses
When I was at the start of my career, I wanted to get an opportunity to manage my first project. But my boss told me I couldn't do that untilI had had some training. But being a small company, there was no training on offer. I was caught in a Catch 22.
At the time, I would have paid good money for a structured introduction to project management.
And, as I progressed and needed more knowledge in specialised areas, like risk management and stakeholder engagement... all there was were heavy textbooks or lightweight magazine articles. What I wanted was more of the practical lessons from the trainers I'd had.
So that, in a nutshell, is why I built OnlinePMCourses.
